You can track your path while in the field to create a record of where you've visited in the field and which areas haven't been visited in awhile.
This feature is disable by default. In order to enable it:
1) Go to your Main Menu and tap Settings.
2) Toggle the radio button associated with "Track my path when I'm in the field." Once you do this, the radio button will turn green and you should see a dialogue box that says "Path tracking is ready for you to use."
3) Farm Dog will now automatically recognize when you are inside one of your fields and track your path inside of it. Your path will only be saved if you save a visit for that field. If you do not save a visit for that field, your path will be deleted from your history at the end of the day.
Frequently asked questions about path tracking
Do I have to select a field before tracking starts?
You don't need to select a field before tracking starts.
Does this affect my phone's battery life?
Yes. Path tracking will use more battery life because your phone will continuously be finding your location. To conserve battery life, Farm Dog recommends to turn off path tracking if you are going long periods of time between fields, for example if you must drive from field to field on a highway.
Does Farm Dog record where I am when I am not in a field?
No. Farm Dog does not record your location while you're outside of a field. The app will occasionally sample your location to see how close you are to your fields in order to be prepared to track your location once you are INSIDE the field, however none of these locations outside the field are logged or saved in any manner.
